Warning: If it seems like I have more than one power for a certain count on this list, it would mostly be because not all the powers I really like happen to have nine characters that I've known over the course of my life.
9) Gravity-Based Powers
Reason: I don't know maybe the fact that power over gravity grants quite a few other abilities, like flight and affecting gravity around your enemy to make them so heavy that can't pick themselves up or so light that they float in the air being left open to other attacks, along with attraction and repulsion.
Characters that make me want to have this power:
-Tso Lan (Jackie Chan Adventures)
-Raven (Gravity Rush)
-Deva Path Pain (Naruto)
-Brago (Zatch Bell)
-Marshal D. Teach aka Blackbeard (One Piece)
-Gravity Man (Megaman)
-King Ghidorah (Godzilla)
-Jareth The Goblin King (Labyrinth)
-Nightmare (Metroid)
8) Darkness/Shadow Powers
Reasons: hmm, explaining how the power of darkness is little bit harder to explain. Essentially what the power darkness entails is things such as creating portals of darkness, dark energy blasts (which is a bit of an oxymoron as darkness when taking to account of it's real world meaning is technically the absence of light, which is a type of energy), dark shields, manipulating your own shadow to be a guardian among many other strange abilities.
Characters that make me want to have this power:
-The Shade (Justice League)
-Gekko Moriah (One Piece)
-Ebon (Static Shock)
-Ragna the Bloodedge (BlazBlue)
-Ganondorf (Legend of Zelda)
-Ansem the Seeker of Darkness (Kingdom Hearts)
-Raven (Teen Titans)
-Noob Saibot (Mortal Kombat)
-Sableye (Pokemon
7) Lightning-based powers
Reason: Aesthetically, Lightning-based powers are my favorite. I don't why but zapping people with a million gigawatts of electricity is just awesome for some strange reason. Something about unleashing bolts of highly destructive lightning from your fingertips just looks awesome and powerful.
-Azula (Avatar: The Last Airbender)
-Static Shock (Static Shock)
-Megawhatts (Ben 10)
-Enel (One Piece)
-Zatch Bell (Zatch Bell)
-Thor (Thor)
-The Phantom Virus (Scooby-Doo)
-Raiden (Mortal Kombat)
6) Enhanced and Protected Senses
Reasons: Well, I'd like to be able to know if some that wants to kill me is nearby and there are ways of doing that with enhanced senses. More often than not enhanced sense and enhanced reflexes go hand-in-hand. Enhanced senses is probably the most practical ability that many people seem to take for granted.
Characters that make me want to have this power:
-Sabertooth (X-men)
-Wildmutt (Ben 10)
-Inuyasha (Inuyasha)
-Yoshi (Yoshi)
-D (Vampire Hunter D)
-Martian Manhunter (Justice League)
-Predators (Predator)
-Doggie Cruger (Power Rangers)
-Spawn (Spawn)
5) Superhuman Physical Attributes (This really amounts to high levels of physical strength, durability, stamina, and/or speed)
Reasons: I don't know, being able to destroy a mountain range with a punch sounds pretty awesome. Wouldn't ya think? Or how about having a skyscraper dropped on your head and you come out unscathed? Or even be able to run a 100 mile track and still not be tired? If these being able to do these things do not make for a half-way decent super powered super hero or villain, than I don't know what will.
Characters that make me want this power:
-Superman (Superman)
-Hellboy (Hellboy)
-Hulk (Hulk)
-Fourarms (Ben 10)
-Goro (Mortal Kombat)
-Donkey Kong (Donkey Kong)
-Machamp (Pokemon)
-Samus Aran (Metroid)
-The Terminator (Terminator)
4) Instantaneous Adaptation
Reasons: As if I need to really give an explanation, but I will anyways. First of all, being able to adapt to the superpowers of others the instant you've been exposed to it ultimately means it's game over for them. Okay there are very few exceptions to this, but when someone does have this power they tend to be one of the most difficult foe a hero could ever face.
Characters that make me want this power:
-Doomsday (Superman)
-Venom (Spiderman)
-Shirley (Jimmy/Timmy)
-Meta Cooler (Dragon Ball Z)
-Metal Sonic (Sonic the Hedgehog)
-Haru Glory (i.e The Ten Commandments Sword) (Rave Masters)
-The Famed Mimic Gogo (Final Fantasy)
-Megaman (the assimilation of other robot weaponry counts) (Megaman)
-Robocop (Robocop)
3) Ice Manipulation
Reasons: Where lightning is awesome and powerful, ice is graceful and serene. Being able to freeze someone to sub-zero temperatures and shattering their bodies is one hell of a way to go.
Characters that make me want this power:
-Sub-Zero (Mortal Kombat)
-Pram (Makai Kingdom)
-Vexen (Kingdoms Hearts)
-Shiva (Final Fantasy)
-Aokiji (One Piece)
-Jin Kisaragi (BlazBlue)
-Froslass (Pokemon)
-Mr. Freeze (Batman)
-Big Chill (Ben 10)
2) Materialization/Nothingness/Assimilation
Reasons: Wouldn't you like to make objects come out of nowhere and annoy the hell out of your enemies?
Characters that make me want this power:
-Tyrant Overlord Baal (Disgaea)
-Chakravartin (Asura's Wrath)
-Giratina (Pokemon)
-Lambda-11 (BlazBlue)
-Xemnas (Kingdom Hearts)
-Exdeath (Final Fantasy)
-Darkseid (Superman)
-Kevin Levin (Ben 10)
-Cell (Dragon Ball Z)
1) Temporal and Spacial Rendering
Reasons: There's no way you can argue against someone who can speed or slow down time around a single object or a large area or is capable of expanding, shrinking, and/or distorting space. This is the ultimate ability for most situations, combat or otherwise.
Characters that make me want this power:
-Ultimecia (Final Fantasy)
-Aeon (Castlevania)
-Professor Paradox (Ben 10)
-Q (Star Trek)
-Arceus (Pokemon)
-Clockwork (Danny Phantom)
-Tabuu (Super Smash Bros)
-Barragan (Bleach)
-Edge Master (Soul Calibur)
